CHALFONT, Pa. /Mortgage and Finance News/ — A Pennsylvania-based mortgage company, New Britain Mortgage, LLC, a subsidiary of Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union (MSDFCU), is excited to announce that Brian Giardino has joined the firm as CEO.
“Our priority is to serve our members and the local region. We want to introduce a community lending platform that is trusted, convenient and simple,” Giardino says. “And, as a subsidiary of a non-profit credit union, we can do just that.”
Giardino has nearly 25 years of financial services and mortgage lending experience. Past accomplishments include leading large divisions, turning around new and struggling departments, and cultivating high performance teams. He’s a versatile strategist and combines skills that make him an ideal change driver, corporate transformer and operations executive.
Prior to joining New Britain, he was vice president at Radian Guaranty, Inc., a national leader in the mortgage insurance market. He reported directly to the COO, led the operations, planning, and delivery groups, managed the company’s initiative and tactical roadmap, and chaired the Executive Leadership Strategic Roundtable. He also served as a senior advisor and Board Liaison. Recent accomplishments include the rescuing and delivery of a $66MM over budget – a two and a half year overdue operations business transformation initiative. Earlier in his career, Giardino led operations and underwriting groups with banking and mortgage origination firms such as ING Direct, GMAC Bank and PHH Mortgage.
As a graduate of Philadelphia’s Temple University, Giardino is intimately familiar with the region. He has a degree in Business Administration Finance and also achieved a Lean Six Sigma Master Certification from Villanova University. He retains the status of FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter from HUD and VA Automatic Underwriter from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
He’s a dedicated business leader and participates in Greater Philadelphia local foundations and local Lean Six Sigma Process Improvement groups. He’s an active community volunteer and work includes bi-annual participation with the Cradle-to-Crayons foundation; fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Centers and Orange Days of Giving – rebuilding local inner-city school classrooms and playgrounds. He lives in southern New Jersey with his wife and family.
